time of troubletime of trouble. .. In Times Like These What Does God Say

In time of trouble we need the Lord. Really we need Him everyday, in the good times and in the bad. What a comfort He is to all who trust in Him.

Here’s what God says—

Psalm 91:1-16.

"Those who dwell in the covering of the Most High abide under the shadow of the Almighty. And I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God; in Him I will trust."

"Surely He will deliver you from the snare of the trapper, and from the wasting disease. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; and His truth will be your protection and defense."

"You need not fear the night terror, nor daytime attacks, nor the pestilence lurking in darkness, nor devastating destruction at high noon. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. Only with your eyes will you look and see the reward of the wicked."

"Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your dwelling; for He will give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. …"

"Because you set your love upon Me, therefore I will deliver you; I will set you on high, because you know My name. You shall call upon Me and I will answer you; I will be with you in trouble; I will deliver you and honor you. With long life I will satisfy you, and show you My salvation."

Psalm  91:1-16.

Knowing God, understanding who He is, and what He is like, causes love to well up in our hearts for Him, and we see that we can trust in Him. God is good, and He is trustworthy!

More of what God says—

ʺThe Lord is a defense for the oppressed, a place of safety in times of trouble.ʺ Psalm 9.9.

ʺthey cry to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their troubles.ʺ Psalms 107:28

ʺthe salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble.ʺ Psalms 37:39.

"Call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will magnify and honor Me." Psalm 50.15.

"Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." Jeremiah 33.3.

"in the time of trouble He will hide me in His covering; He shelters me. In His habitation He secures me, and sets up on a high rock." Psalm 27:5.

God is Our Strength

"the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord, He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord will help them, and deliver them; He will deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him." Psalm 37:39, 40.

ʺGod is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.ʺ Psalms 46:1.

ʺYou are my hiding place; You will preserve me from trouble; You will encircle me with songs of deliverance.ʺ Psalms 32:7.

ʺI sing of Your power; yes, I sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning, for You are my strong tower and hiding place in the day of my trouble.ʺ Psalms 59:16.

“Behold, God is my deliverer, I will trust in Him and not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and my song, He is my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2.

“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, He regards those who trust in Him.” Nahum 1:7.

“The Lord protects those who love Him…” Psalms 145:20.

"Therefore, let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help us in our time of need."   Hebrews 4: 16.

"I love you Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my God, my power, in whom I trust; my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies." Psalm 18:1-3.

God Delivers

Whoever or whatever your enemy is, whether a wasting disease or a brutally cruel person, God is not only able to deliver you, but He will deliver you, if you put all your faith and trust in Him.

Give yourself to Jesus, it is the only safe place. When people come against us, when circumstance and situations go horribly wrong, God will deliver. And if, for whatever reason, God does not deliver from it, He will deliver in it, or through it (Daniel 3:1-30). Trust Him with all your heart.

"But now, thus says the Lord, who created you … He who formed you … fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, nor will the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior …" Isaiah 43:1-3.

The redeemed of the Lord have the great honor and privilege of His protection. And if that protection does not come in the way you expect, it is because God is bringing a better benefit and a greater outcome. Trust Him with your life, give Him your heart, be His dear child.

“My child, give Me your heart, and let your eyes observe My ways.” Proverbs 23:26.

Important Note:

We would like to make clear that while God promises to deliver us, purposefully putting ourselves in bad situations does not necessitate God’s rescue. While the Lord God Almighty is well able to save, this does not mean we should unnecessarily place our self in maleficent circumstances.

When we find our self in a bad place due to something we cannot avoid this is different, and we can depend on God. However, willfully choosing a horrible situation or circumstance will not necessarily bring rescue from God. And while there are times God has saved people in spite of bad and wrong choices, to expect it may bring disappointment, and even severe natural consequences.

Purposefully placing our self in a bad place, particularly for the intent of testing God, is not the same as being rescued from things beyond your choice or control.

While it is our constant intent to encourage people to choose God and trust fully and completely in Him, this does not mean we should choose careless and reckless behavior. Having said that, when we do choose what is wrong and harmful, we can still go to God and seek His forgiveness. It may be that He will rescue you from the wrong; if not, then trusting in Him to get you through it is key.

God is so incredibly good, and He is ever looking out for us, if we will let Him. Let Him help you make good and right choices, and when you fail, look to Him for the help you need. The Lord is faithful, and He is good!
