Keep the Dream

Keep the Dream
by PJ Salas

ʺ…a dream comes by the multitude of business, and a fool’s voice is known by his many words.ʺ Ecclesiastes 5:3.

Those who fight hard for their dream(s) understand well Ecclesiastes chapter five, verse three. They understand, more often than not, the dream does not come easy, but by persistence, fortitude, hard work, and much travail, until the dream is birthed and thriving. Successful dreamers pursue their dreams with tenacity, relentless in their pursuit.

The word business in Ecclesiastes chapter five and verse three comes from the Hebrew word עִנְיָן which comes from the primitive root word חָלַם meaning to bind firmly. The intent of the Hebrew word עִנְיָן is to bear down, travail, which any successful dreamer will tell you is a most accurate description of what it takes to see your dream come true.

One must bear down, set their mind on course and travail, laboring with earnest, not giving up through disappointment, setbacks, hardship, and failure. One must bind firmly in their pursuit, that the dream may be realized.

Never Give Up

So it is for the Christian in pursuit of their God given dream, the blessed hope of our future eternal home. We must bind firmly to our dream, never giving up, never allowing obstacles, disappointment, hardship, or failure to keep us from our dream.

Binding firmly to Jesus is a necessity, for He is the dream giver. We must not let go of our hope, and cling to our help, the Lord Jesus. Continuing to trust God’s promise to be fulfilled; we know it will be, and we do everything we can to make it a reality by binding and clinging to Jesus, and by living and doing the Word of God, always praying for answers and the leadership of God’s Spirit.

We do not go on with many words, fruitless in positive purpose, gabbing about useless fascinations. Actively we engage our faith in the pursuit of our God given dream through productive actions, and following God’s Word. We adhere to our future hope, believing God for His grace and strength to do all through Jesus, to live out His Word in our lives (Philippians 4:13).

Cling to the Dream

How is it with you, are you clinging to the hope, the blessed hope, your dream for the eternal future? Are you full of hope and promise, binding to Jesus, clinging to Him and His promise, purchased with His own blood? Are you trusting and living out the Word of God in your life through Jesus Christ?

Be strong and of a good courage. Be persistent in prayer and in the exercise of your faith and hope, steadfastly trusting in God, hoping in His promise, leaning on Jesus in the down times and in the good times; letting Him help you to do all things He commands us.

Follow Jesus, and be about His business. Keep the dream, never losing sight of your eternal home, always trusting firmly in Jesus; having faith that moves the mountains of your life (Matthew 17:20; 21:21; Mark 11:23). Cling to Jesus, travailing and bearing down through Christ, who with His own precious blood purchased your God given dream.

ʺthe grace of God shines forth, giving light, bringing salvation to all people; teaching us to refuse ungodliness and worldly longings, to live righteously, godly, and wisely in this present world; looking for the blessed hope, the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, to redeem us from all sin, and purify to Himself a special people, zealous for good works.ʺ Titus 2:11-14.
